The Babysitter: My Summers with a Serial Killer by Jennifer Jordan, Liza Rodman
3.0

This novel was extremely well-researched and thorough in chronicling the life of serial killer Tony Costa. However, it fell flat in trying to marry the true crime/nonfiction account of his murders with the glorified memoir of the author Liza Rodman, a girl that Costa “occasionally” would babysit. It read like an unsuccessful attempt to share her own childhood marred with neglect and emotional abuse by her mother, and I quickly grew bored of the back and forth without much fluency in the writing.
