The Dirty Book Club by Lisi Harrison

3.0

The title of the book is NOT what you would think it is about lol...it is not an erotica novel. I did know this going into it as I read a few reviews prior and it peaked my interest.

The beginning of the book started off great. I loved it, I was invested and I thought it was going to be a great book. Basically, it starts with a book club gathering from the early 1960s when things were obviously much different and not as liberal or open. Four women with different personalities gather and at the beginning we get a glimpse into their lives. Gloria was quite a character and to be honest, the book would have been so much better if she had remained a part of it. Of all the characters in the book, she is the most memorable and you want to know more about her life.

Anyhooo the original four members of the book club select a new member each to take over their seat in the club and we are introduced to present day and four new book club members. The four original members all moved to live in Paris. The new book club members... I didn't really care for any of them. One seemed whiney, one seemed privlidged, one seemed oblivious and one seemed weak even though she was first introduced as a strong career individual at the beginning.

The ending seemed extremely rushed and I was left with many questions wondering what had happened with different aspects of their lives. It was just okay for me.
