Behold. The sequel to Alienated.

Cara is on L'heir trying to keep the alliance in check, while Aelyx is on Earth, trying to do the same thing. There's just some minor issues. Cara is being framed for crimes she did not commit while Aelyx has had multiple assassination attempts on his life.

As well as this, something keeps landing on L'heir, a probe of some type. And Cara and Aelyx are going to get to the bottom of it, if it's the last thing they do.

So at the beginning/middle of this book, I was really happy with how it was playing out. I really liked the conflicts rising in the book. However, towards the middle/end of this book, I absolutely hated it.

Let me just get some things off my chest.
SpoilerFirst of all, Cara is SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD. That is not even an adult! And yet, her parents let her move to the colony with her boyfriend (totally a spoiler in a spoiler). Also, The Way puts her on the board. At SEVENTEEN!! That makes absolutely no sense! She is still a child. And she's not that brilliant. It is just so dumb that she would be the only one put on the board and at her age. Her brother would've been better, because at least he has experience out in the world and of both planets. Her experience? It was just a couple of months, that's it. It's so unrealistic, I can't even handle it.

Spoiler Second, I totally saw David coming. It was not surprising at all. I knew he was going to be the bad guy. But, I hated how they betrayed him in the end. When he pulled out that gun, he wasn't even bad, right up front he started defending Aelyx and how he never meant to hurt him and I'm just like this is b****t. It totally ruined his character. I feel like if David stayed true to Jaxen and at least "acted bad" it would have been much better to see his character develop as a better person during this interaction because of Syrine and Aelyx and how well he got to know them. But no. Melissa Landers made David look like a little cry baby who didn't have any dignity. I really hated how she potrayed his character in that scene.

Spoiler Thirdly, Syrine. What the heck happened to her stubborn booty? She was completely against humans and L'heirs, and then all of a sudden she just falls for one? And so soon after Eron died? Don't get me wrong, Syrine and David were really cute to pair up, but I'm just mad that Landers broke Syrine's stubbornness. I feel like it was an essential part to her and without it, it seemed unnecessary.

Spoiler Lastly, the ending. When Alona offers Cara a job on the board. DURING AN ATTACK. What the fladoodle cakes? I was like, seriously? Aelyx is holding off eight guys at a door, and you're having this conversation that should've been saved for after this battle right now. How dumb could you get? I mean literally it was like everything outside wasn't happening. I feel like Landers should've lefts that part until the end, when Jaxen and Aisley got away and there was nothing at that moment in time that they could do about it. I just feel like it would of looked better. I just hated the placement of that scene. Actually, I think that scene should be deleted because there's not way a 17 year old girl would get offered a job on the board, but whatever. That's just me.

Honestly, I'm really upset at how this book played out. I hated the ending. I hated the middle. I hated a lot. But I did like a few things. I just feel like this storyline is such a good one, but it's not told in the best fashion. I don't mean to be rude, but I feel like Landers could've done a much better job.

I gave this book three out of five stars because I love the idea of this story, I just don't like how it was written. I also don't like how many cliff hangers there are. Just one to deal with is fine. But that's just me, not everyone.
