namivague 's review for:
Nearly All the Men in Lagos Are Mad
by Damilare Kuku
This was a DNF for me. 2,5 stars rounded to 2. This book had so much potential but it was poorly executed.
A collection of 12 short stories and I stopped reading at 9. Was interesting at first but it gradually turns suuuper boring because while each and every story is different, 1) the stories are so similarly structured and 2) almost all of it is about cheating men. Also hated the unnecessary sex scene in almost every chapter.
I did enjoy the way Kuku tries to reflect on and criticize patriarchy, marriage, and modern dating culture, though. Also liked how this book reminds me so much of Jakarta men. But that's about it.
