Piecing Me Together by Renée Watson

I really loved this. Even though Lee Lee is the poet of the story I found the writing so lyrical, almost like free verse at times. I really liked the characters in this book-they are multidimensional and grow throughout the story, they are also flawed but likable and I would absolutely read another book with Jade in it (even though I often admit I am not a "series person"). Such important issues get brought up and addressed but it isn't all wrapped up in a neat, simple package either - just like real life. It felt very authentic to me.
