Narrative of the Life of Fredrick Douglass
by Frederick Douglass
I read this while I read Internment by Samira Ahmed. It was really powerful. There is a lot to be said for the horrors of slavery and Douglass does not hide it. Reading Internment also really highlighted just how young Douglass was. The lost innocence. The lost childhood. The depravity. Horrible.
