Black Beauty
by Anna Sewell
4.5
I really liked this book a lot. The main character was sweet and strong, it was pleasant to read from his perspective. The whole point of the book was, as Anna Sewell's page suggests, to show the society cruellness that surrounded horses and other animals in her time. As children book it's great, I found it too much moralizing. I felt like author wanted to show her point too much that it ended up extremely straightforward.
I have some experience with horses, enough to understand the main character and people that surrounded him. It's so interesting to read and see how much everything improved through time.
It's the book that I will definitely read to my children.
