Mendell Station

I absolutely loved this meditation on grief, losing faith, caretaking, and USPS. Miriam quits her job as a Scripture teacher at a private high school after losing her best friend suddenly, and she decides to work as a postal carrier. She views this profession as her chance to have a physical job that lets her be alone, which is all she wants in her state of grief. Soon after beginning her new job, lockdown begins as the pandemic sweeps over San Francisco, and Miriam finds herself with even more change to contend with. I loved learning about what happens behind the scenes at the post office, and I felt so deeply for Miriam in her struggle to reconcile losing her evangelical faith and her best friend.
