Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid

3.0

I’m happy to say that my experience reading Never Always Sometimes was much better than my last experience reading a book by Adi Alsaid. In fact, this book got me out of a terrible reading slump! It was a solid contemporary which I very much enjoyed. Whilst I wouldn’t say it was my favourite read of the year, it was still incredibly enjoyable, and a book that I think many readers are going to enjoy.

Never Always Sometimes centres around two teenagers who have always wanted to be different to the norm. They don’t want to be the typical, cliche teenager at high school, but they realise that they’ve been missing out on a lot through avoiding what their peers are doing.

I thought I was going to start eye rolling when I read that there was a longing after a best friend element in this story, but it seemed to work well with this story. This book does seem a little far fetched at times and some of the things the main characters do are a little risky considering their age. I can’t complain too much though. It’s a fun, fluffy read which I flew through. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, and it proves to me that you should always give an author a second chance!
