Undermajordomo Minor by Patrick deWitt

5.0

I did something I hadn't done in years reading this book: I stayed up until 1:00am to finish it. deWitt's books are very easy to binge-read (I read Sisters Brothers over a weekend at a music festival). The best way I can describe his writing is retro, but that makes it sound gimmicky, which it isn't. It's old-school: sharp, classy, witty, with lots of heart and humor. Also, the way the love story unfolds is so honest and realistic. There are a few very unexpected twists that are surprising but work, and keep things interesting. I loved it!
