The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
3.0

I was excited to read this book as it had a popping cover (I am a sucker for covers) and was more excited to read a modern romance with POC as the main characters. And while that aspect was refreshing and cool to read, the dialogue felt soooo stilted and I knew within 30 pages it wasn’t gonna be good or get better. I stuck with it out of nostalgia for LA and a fun read. Guillory does make interesting points about the different sides to LA though—the brilliance and enchantment of Hollywood, the overrated and too-busy hipster joints, and the LA that is simply someone’s hometown where they experience a lower middle class life of normalcy.
