I feel like the concept behind this book is very good, but the execution leaves much to be desired. I liked the format of introducing the characters through interviews as if they were in a documentary - I listened to the audio book version which worked really well as they had a different narrator for each character, but I feel I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I hadn't. The characters are interesting, but none feel particularly well-developed. We are told about how great this band were and how amazing the singers were, but never get the opportunity to fully understand this ourselves. I feel like the author could have benefited from being reminded that they ought to show not tell. And although I don't necessarily expect to like all the characters, I feel like I could never get to understand the two protagonists. They both came across as very self-absorbed with no other positive character traits that would redeem them and make the complex. After a while the story began to drag because there didn't seem to be any particular direction or development of the characters.
