It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

2.0

This was horrible and utterly disappointing. Poorly and generically written, Colleen somehow managed to make a forever kind of “soulmate” love dull and oversaturated with the most cringey kind of dialogue and interactions (I wanted to melt away when the hug stuff started happening). It Ends With Us ended on such a loving twist of fate and Colleen demolishes it quickly with the promise of “taking things slow” between Lily and Atlas.

At least this book finally put the nail in the coffin for Ryle’s character.

The whole subplot with Atlas and his family was YAWN. I was not invested.

It Starts With Us had no substance, no purpose. It was meandering, stereotypical hunky-dory storytelling.
