That One Moment by Amy Daws
5.0
It’s really not surprising that I loved this book lets be real. I love Amy Daws and I’m always so excited to get the opportunity to read and review any of her books. Amy has such a way with words and she’s great at pulling all of my hearts strings. That One Moment is no exception. I really love the emotions that are invoked while reading her books. They make me laugh, cry, and fall in love with her characters.
That One Moment is the second book in the Lost in London series which is a spin-off of the London Lovers series Amy has written prior to this. Though it wouldn’t be necessary to read all of the books in theses series to be able to follow along in this book I would HIGHLY suggest that you pick up book one of the Lost in London series, Not The One, before reading this one.Hayden, one of the mains, story is really important in that one and it would really help to understand the whole situation. Characters from the past books are in this one so to fully get the feels and enjoyment starting from the beginning would be the best route (Theo and Leslie play an important part in this story and their story is book 3 of The London Lovers) Honestly if you haven’t read The London Lovers you really should its a lot of fun and I think you would really enjoy it!
Anyways, That One Moment follows two characters who we got to meet in the past books who I was really excited to read their own story! Hayden’s story has been in the background for so many stories and I have been dying to get my hands on his and give this poor man some kind of happiness! (He might be my favorite character just because we get to spend so much time focused on him through out the books but its really hard to pick just one favorite in this series :P) i Vi also was a character I wanted to have her own story. We met her awhile back and I am absolutely thrilled to have her front and center for this novel.
This novel deals with a lot of deep materiel and handles it really well. Some of the triggers include depression, alcohol abuse, suicide, and suicidal thoughts. I wanted to make sure to through that out there in case anyone needed to avoid one of those since they play a huge role in this novel. You can really see that Amy did her research to be accurate and thoughtful and handles it so well.
This story takes place months after the last time we saw Hayden. He has been released and is going to a therapist who suggests the best way to get over the feelings he still possesses is to tell a stranger his life story. Hayden’s been so stuck in his head and around people who know everything about him that a fresh face could really benefit him in the long run! This is where Vi(and Bruce) comes along!
There story was really slow burning which was perfect pacing for me. At least with these characters if the romance went any faster I don’t think the story would work. Hayden and Vi both have their own ghosts and past that the romance going to fast would of felt unauthentic. I’m really glad that Amy picked these characters to be together they really work. Vi is exactly what Hayden needed.
I’m always really excited to see what Amy has up her sleeve next but I’m really curious where she is heading after this one. We were introduced to Vi’s brothers in this one and their stories would be a lot of fun to read! I mean they said they’d never settle down so they basically set themselves to be the next story, right? I’m still holding out for Frank having his own book! It would be so much fun to read from his perspective.
Anyhow you’ve hit it out of the park once again Amy girl! I can’t wait to read more by you in the future!
