Chasing The Night by Iris Johansen

4.0

After a few bombs and forcing myself to get through the series just so I could be done with it a gem has finally reappeared and I'm completely back on track with the series.

Maybe it's because I was growing weary with the focus on the search for Bonnie and in Chasing the Night the focus was on a brand new character who, though very similar to Eve was also very much her own person. Catherine Ling was strong, vulnerable, charismatic, honest and vicious. She's one of the first new characters who isn't just a rude, obnoxious, selfish jerk and it was like a breath of fresh air. Kelly was also a great new addition to the cast. The whole setting kind of reminded me of when Jane first showed up on the scene.

Joe was toned down and instead of being just overly protective of Eve he was proactive and determined to help someone other than Eve. Eve didn't sit along the sidelines trying to get around Joe either, she fought and held her ground.

But in the end, literally, the last sentence kind of blew my mind and I am SO GLAD I have the next book, Eve, sitting on my bookshelf right now! Having to wait to get my hands on it probably would have driven me insane!

Thank you Iris Johansen for renewing my faith in the Eve Duncan series!
