Private Equity: A Memoir by Carrie Sun

3.0

Okay don't hate me. I read this because I felt an unreasonable amount of mental clarity from Uncanny Valley and thought this was a similar memoir about women in high-income, male-dominated fields. but wow was it hard to empathize or learn anything from this one. after years of working in finance she only realizes that people are solely interested in profit when she doesn't get what she wants? when she works too hard? when she doesn't get paid enough or enough stake in the fund? I was a little disappointed that was the only realization. like, duh! we all already knew that... so anyway I was a little disappointed with this read. don't get me wrong, it was interesting to read as a story, to follow someone's life. but the "moral" or the "lesson" at the end totally threw me off this path, sorry.
