Such a fast-paced, enjoyable novella. I was quickly captured by the story and characters.
This story is set in 1900's Japan-inspired world, which took me a chapter or two to adjust to. Our tortured, morally light grey MMC is Haruki. Our brave and sweet FMC is Murasaki. Murasaki brings life and home to Haruki, but both have difficult choices to make as new light shines.
The relationship between the two MCs is filled with companionship and caring. I loved the side characters and hope to learn more of their stories. There are several tension filled, steamy moments between Haruki and Murasaki. I loved seeing chronic illness rep and environmental themes done well throughout the book. I can't wait to read more in this series by the many authors, but also see where this author takes her characters possibly later on.
