Lana Baker is a scribe. A scribe who, in exchange for some kisses, pens a note to deliver a message for a pretty gal. The last thing Lana expected was to be shipped off to Low Parliament by a grumpy fairy. As she spends her days penning the endless circular arguments of Parliament, the clashes grow between the members. And if they cannot find a truce an all out war will ensue. Can Lana save humanity? Or will war swallow them all up whole?

This was quite a unique and poetic read. It almost had an otherworldly quality to it, with concepts I couldn’t quite grasp. Unfortunately, I struggled with it. Between the difficult sentence structure, language use, and difficult to understand concepts, I was fairly lost reading this novella. The main character was difficult to like and I couldn’t find my own footing through it.

By the end I couldn’t relay exactly what happened or read between the lines to understand the politics. The use of hallucinogens was quite prevalent throughout the book, which was unexpected. I did, however,  appreciate the LGBTQ representation and loved the fluid interactions between characters. I will say, what a gorgeous cover and the very last chapter did put a smile on my face.

A bit of a mixed bag, but ultimately it wasn’t for me, 2⭐️. I request you try it for yourself and see what you think! Thank you @tordotcompub for sending an advanced copy my way💜.
