I read this book still thinking it was somewhat autobiographical, and really enjoyed it on that level. I was prepared to rate it 4 stars at least. Then I learned that is complete fiction, a very flawed representation of Cherokee people, and was written by a certified Terrible Person. Now I can't separate these facts from the story, and wouldn't feel right giving it a rating.
