An Appeal to the World by Dalai Lama XIV

4.0

This is the first book I’ve read by the Dalai Lama, but having read it I plan to seek out more. He speaks with the light of love and truth, as he presses us to empathise with another. Rather than focusing deeply on any particular issues, he speaks broadly about what it means to be human. He wants us to forgive those who have harmed us, to love our enemies, to love ourselves, and to have hope. I was charmed by hearing how much he likes to laugh and how warm and kind his presence is. He seems the sort of person anyone would feel blessed to share the company of.

“The most important question we can ask for a better world is ‘How can we serve each other?’”
