It's All in Your Head: True Stories of Imaginary Illness by Suzanne O'Sullivan

2.0

Couldn’t finish this book because it was actually causing my anxiety to spike. I already struggle with the idea that doctors don’t take any of their patients complaints seriously unless you walk in with a broken arm of gunshot wound. I’ve been blown off by almost every doctor I’ve been to for the concerns I had. While trying to sound like she’s on our side, the author also exposes that she is just like every other doctor out there and will let her emotions and own personal perceptions get in the way. I 100% believe in psychosomatic illnesses but she’s not a psychologist so why is she writing a book about them? Most of the stories end with no resolution on the patients condition since she, once again, is not a psychologist and cannot treat her patients conditions.

While the information about psychosomatic illness was fascinating and eye-opening, everything else in this book came across as very bleak and honestly depressing.
