Stardust by Neil Gaiman

As a lover of the film adaptation I can’t lie and say this review is unbiased, but I enjoyed the novel as a different entity. It felt like there was much less action and lower stakes in the novel than the film which resulted to two of my favourite changes.
1) that Tristran (hate that. it’s just Tristan) acknowledged that every step on this journey that actually made him progress was by accepting and asking for help and it worked every time. Just a very sweet and realistic notion, and lacking ego. Side note loved that he’s big on consent! Good guy Tristan
2) the witch’s idea that having your heart carved out of your chest is better than having a man potentially break it. What a line
That being said I hated the ending, both for the witch and for the couple. I much preferred the films drama and finale. As well as for Tristan’s parents their film representations made me happy but I just love love.
Overall it was good but I will say that the movie is better
