ambereatsbooks 's review for:
Sleeping Beauties
by Owen King, Stephen King
I’m struggling with a rating for this one. I think I may settle around a 3.5.
This book was a strange journey for me. I went into it not sure what to expect because it had two authors. I felt that the writing seemed “off” in some places and “on” in others. The premise was so interesting to me. It kept me engaged right until the very end but ultimately I was left unsatisfied. I had so many questions that never got answered. I feel like this book more than any other King book had a lot of commentary on the current political climate and gender disparities of today. While I can appreciate what the authors were trying to do, I feel like it got preachy towards the end. It was more of a tell us don’t show us approach which never sits well with me. Overall, I did enjoy the story. I know my review may seem like I didn’t. Not the case! I was caught up in the mystery behind all of the strange events that were occurring. I desperately wanted to know what would happen. I was rooting for my favorite characters to make it through. I would happily check out other books by this collaborative team.
