I was a little wary of this book at the beginning as I was just reading it for a book group, but this book, especially in audio book format was great. At times it was a little dry with unnecessary information, but overall I really appreciated Richard White's storytelling. It helped that the audio book was narrated by White himself as it brought a lot of energy and personalization to the book. Plus the tuba music between each chapter just kept me so immersed! White's story and passion bleeds through all his writing. For a topic, like Tuba, which I am not super interested in, White made me compelled to keep reading. He talks about poverty, racism, alcoholism, and many other serious topics with unflinching honesty and depth. I would definitely recommend this audiobook!!
