For One More Day
by Mitch Albom
What an amazing book. I’m not ashamed to say I cried a lot. I cried to the extent that when I had to read a passata out loud I was not able to go through it due to the sobbing.
This book was intense. I read it thinking about my mom, but more than that I read it thinking about my role as a mother. I love my mom and she knows it, we have a great relationship. I forgot all the times “I didn’t stand up for her” but I’m sure I did hurt her more than I can imagine during my teenage years... who doesn’t... Still is not acceptable. I’m also sure she forgave (but not forgot) all of it because that is the unconditional love just a parent can give you.
As I said I read this book thinking more about my role as a mother and how hard it will be for me to live through what Posey lives through... but not as hard as knowing that my son might have regrets about me and the way our bond changed with time.
My dad always said to me “you’ll understand when you’ll have a kid” I always brushed it off, but I do understand it now.
I hope my son will find this book in his path and that it will mean to him as much as it meant for me.
