Crucible Zero by Devon Monk

5.0

Since I didn't expect the previous book to take the final turn that it did, I had no idea what to expect with this third and final book. I was pleasantly surprised that while there were comparisons to events from the other books (i.e.: Abraham showing up unexpected at Matilda's front door), it wasn't an identical re-tread. The problems faced by Matilda and her friends were just as unpredictable and dangerous as in the previous books, though this one closed out with a lot more action. I don't like time travel stories but I appreciated that this one only switched between two "worlds." I loved some of the final secrets and the hurdles Matilda encountered when it came to the new Abraham. It was a great addition to the story and there was nothing that I thought was holding it back or unnecessary conflict. Old faces reappeared in the best ways, and while I was biting my nails pretty hard at some points, I was very pleased with the outcome. I definitely had a great time reading yet another book from an awesome urban fantasy author and look forward to doing so again!
