Verity by Colleen Hoover
4.0
TALK ABOUT MIXED FEELINGS. I hear lately there’s a chance this could be a movie, so I picked it up again. I tired reading it a few years ago, but it was. DNF. I picked up and was instantly hooked. This one will keep you wanting more, but questioning everything you’ve just read, and the characters, who can you trust, who’s telling the truth? overall, I “liked” it, but I was very dark for me in my opinion. It’s a fiction read but feels like a gross crime show, but can’t stop thinking about it so maybe that’s the point? most likely, well done Colleen, even though I feel like there was a side ghost rider because this was TWISTY. I feel like she tried giving Layla the same feeling as Verity, and I hated Layla. Verity, I’d recommend but trigger warning, it’s dark, if you’re mom or have struggled TTC, etc, just read with caution.
I did read the extra chapter, and my mind has changed to everyone’s gross and no one’s safe from the impact verity has left.
I liked : it kept me wanting to more, a who dunnit in the sense who can you trust, and I’ll be thinking about until a movie comes out. I like the pace of this book.
I didn’t like: the gruesome darkness of the book. I think the idea could’ve been there but without the grossness.
