I didn't expect to enjoy this play so much. It really is the godfather of all the robot uprising/coming to sentience stories. I agree with the introduction that the characters do not have much individuality or depth; they are a type. But that's what makes them more interesting and makes the story survive as an archetype for many others to come. I am eager to read Capek's other works, as they seem to be quite witty, imaginative and engaging.
