A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles Dickens
so i must thank my friend for dragging me into this one and getting me to read it; I would have gotten to it eventually, but it might have taken me a while and I am so glad that I read it now instead. i hadn't believed her when she said that it made her cry, and while I didn't quite get to that point, the third volume of the book just tear at your heartstrings and doesn't let go. the last two pages were, by far, the best conclusion to a book that i have read in a long while.
the relatively modern English language used in the novel made it much easier for me to get through and thoroughly enjoy than books by authors like Austen or one of the Bronte sisters, which definitely contributed to my enjoyment overall. Dickens has a power to make you get attached to his characters and fall completely in love with them. the cast really does make the book. i will definitely be coming back to this book in the future for a reread; it is definitely worth a read and deserves far more attention than it gets!
