Sure, it's stretching the imagination beyond belief. Evolution and radiation has evolved species that quickly?! Then again, we may get a bit on sentience and where it comes from (I trust Remender can deliver if it comes to that...)
I'm still perplexed as to how people are getting confused by the story. It's perfectly straightforward if you maintain a little concentration. You also get the sense this is pretty darn cathartic for the author, and his writing is striking a chord with me in my current situation (even if his messages/metaphors are a little on the nose)
