Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott
4.0
I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
After being injured in Afghanistan, Connor and Weston are flown home to Walter Reed Hospital. Connor had surgery on his elbow and is dealing with PTSD; Wes's injuries were more serious. Connor can't bear being around Wes and his family; he breaks up with Autumn and disappears, not telling anyone where he is going. Autumn is devastated but stays by Weston's side, as Connor asked her to do. Connor, however, feels he will only bring her down and forces her to leave him, too. Autumn vows never to settle for a love that is anything less than real or let someone get between her and her goals. Autumn and Wes both need each other, though, and they agree to be friends. Both feel more than friendship, though.
This book was quite different from the first, given that the characters were facing much more serious problems, but all the strong feelings were still there. The plot twists were easy to see coming. Not as strong as the first book in the duology but still really good!
