The Beach House by Jane Green

3.0

This was a book club selection. Beach House is an easy, fluffy read about a group of well-to-do Easterners going through various mid-life crises. Normally, I like to read a fluffy book about once a year, & the nastier & pulpier the better. This book would seem to have all it takes to be really filthy: money scandals, affairs, & people coming back from the dead. But no, it was pretty benign & kind of boring. There were way too many characters. At one point, I couldn't distinguish between the guy who was having an affair from the other guy who was having an affair from the guy who wanted to have an affair. The best part of this book was catching the British vernacular that would pop up from time to time. Basically, this book is like wanting to eat a piece of decadent chocolate cheesecake & settling for a low calorie rice cracker.
