Silver Tears by Camilla Läckberg

4.0

I dove into this book pretty blind having not read The Golden Cage but I still really enjoyed the book and I didn't find myself feeling like I needed to read the first book to understand what was going on.

What I loved:
- It was steamy!
- Female empowerment
What I didn't love:
- Some things didn't seem plausible

Faye is living her idyllic life after having put away her husband for the murder of their dear child. Faye is famous from developing a company called "Revenge" which she is on the brink of loosing when she finds out that major investors are selling their shares of the company.

Betrayal and feminism are the two words to best describe this novel. I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting into, but this novel pleasantly surprised me. I actually really enjoyed the main character Faye at different points in the book when she talks about how she used to be taken into the shadows and was a simple housewife until she discovered her inner power and created this empire for herself and her family. Although there were some frustrating moments with Faye, I overall really enjoyed her character development and thought that was done quite well.

I thought that there was some good action within the book and plenty of moments where I was shaking my head wondering where this was going. I found it to be a little unbelievable that someone who is in the limelight as much as Faye would be able to hide out her mother and child who are presumed dead. I mean, I understand she has the resources to do so, but I don't think she would have gotten away with it for as long as she did.

I really enjoyed the past perspective of Faye in her younger years to when she began to discover her power. It was dark and twisted and I loved it! There are plenty of trigger warnings throughout the book so I would tread lightly on this one.

Overall, I really enjoyed it especially having not read the first novel. Would highly recommend!
