The Year of Less: How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away My Belongings, and Discovered Life Is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store by Cait Flanders

5.0

Disclaimer: This is not a self-help book in the sense of it giving you direct advice (if you're interested in that, I would only read the epilogue), which seems to be why the reviews on this are so polarizing. It's definitely marketed as an advice book, not really sure why as this is definitely more of a memoir.

Personally, It's more interesting to me to see someone attempt to make change in their own life, read about what worked and didn't work for them, and see their humanity/vulnerability. If this also interests you, you'll love this book. The author is very real, very relatable, and writes in a way that makes you feel like you are one of her friends.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book (but I do think it should have a less misleading title).
