The Ersatz Elevator by Lemony Snicket
4.0

This book in the series was an extremely interesting read and you can tell things only get more mysterious and interesting from here. Some say this is the best book in the series and I am do not entirely disagree, this is certainly where things start to cook up.
In their most daring misadventure, the Baudelaire orphans are adopted by very, very rich people, whose penthouse apartment is located mysteriously close to the place where all their misfortune began. Even though their new home in the city is fancy, and the children are clever and charming, I'm sorry to say that still, the unlucky orphans will encounter more disaster and woe.
The book follows its themes of tragedy for the children in yet another unfortunate event in their lives, however there are certain questions that start to arise that the Baudelaire children will want answers for. Certain questions about their parents, how exactly the fire that led them to this miserable life started and how does Count Olaf tie into all this??
A brilliant book in the series that has even more of the dark humor even come to know, love and expect from Lemony Snicket by now.
