The Backup Bride Proposal by Jaci Burton

4.0

This story is book 4 in the series but could be read as a standalone. This story follows Mae who works for Bellini Weddings who’s about to have a whole cast to come use their property where she meets actor, Kane. This was a really cute story and I really enjoyed seeing a male actor and a small-town woman falling in love. This was a cute story and Burton did a wonderful job with brining it to life. I enjoyed the conflicts in this book as it kept me entertained but I do have to say that the pacing did begin to slow in the middle. I loved learning about the acting and the venue business throughout the story. This book is told from both Mae and Kane’s pov.

Mae cares about the Bellini and their business so finding out that a whole acting crew is coming makes her annoyed. I enjoyed her character and loved her coming out of her shell. She’s caring but is in introvert. Then we have Kane who is a total sweatheart and I also enjoyed his character. He was fun and also a caring person. There were many side characters in this book and I loved meeting the Bellini sisters. The romance is friends to lovers, small-town romance, and forced proximity with minor steamy scenes.

The ending was well done and very cute. I do have to say that the story did slow down a bit but I liked that minor twist in the story towards the end. Overall, the story was well written and I really enjoyed this book.
