Psycho Gods by Jasmine Mas

4.0

It was so long and had so much lore, but I feel like the lore was all smushed at the end when it was really all interesting stuff! I wish we got to see a bit more of how Jinx continues to maneuver, but I really enjoyed it.

One thing that tripped me up a bit was how heavy of a grudge Aran held against Corvus for the glass rain Legionnaire Games challenge. It was brutal and traumatizing, but I don’t understand why she was so angry at the choice when at the time, she knew it was going to be her over Orion because of how the kings had interpreted their mating bond. After reading that passage in Psycho Devils, I felt like she wasn’t angry that Corvus, who had been put in an impossible position, chose to protect the guy he believed he was destined to protect. If anything, I thought she was more resigned to the choice, maybe a smidge disappointed, so reading her hold this grudge for over 1/2 of this book (especially when he and the other kings had done other worse things).
