A Black and Endless Sky by Matthew Lyons
Did not finish book. Stopped at 37%.
Firstly, the writing was amateurish at times. A lot of tired metaphors and shoe-horned exposition.
Secondly, there was a lot of bloat. An entire chapter of this guy ruminating about his divorce. An entire chapter detailing a bar fight.
Speaking of which- If I'd known how much of the book relies on these macho action sequences, I'd have skipped. A huge part of the book is devoted to brawling; falling into countless action movie clichés as it goes.
Lastly, and most importantly- the sister, (a deuteragonist), is just an absolute garbage person. Truly one deserving of a good ol' fashioned curb stomping. Her actions make absolutely zero sense, except as an obvious way to create side plots or push the story in a certain direction.
