A US Marshal and a federal judge fight conspiracy, terrorism, and fall in love. Bauer writes such layered and beautiful characters. I'm 101% in love with Mike and Tom, and Tom broke my heart with all that he had to face in the past. Mike is sexy, caring, and very protective of the brilliant, tough yet vulnerable Tom. The first half is focused on their romance, and I loved every angsty, beautiful bit of it.
The build up is gorgeous - two searching, lonely souls finding their way to each other, and their love story is emotional, tender and passionate. The action really explodes in the second half, and it's one heck of a thriller. The romance is still very much present; loved how determined they are to stay together! Amazing read, but a long epilogue would've been very welcomed.
