This was the January read for the bookclub I am in but I didn't read it until now (I missed that bookclub meeting ahha). So I initially just thought that this was a survival book which I was all about and was excited to read. That was not what this was at all. This was more of a “the reader watching from the outside” of a completely dysfunctional family and their friends. And then some of them go hiking/ camping and tragically die in an avalanche. I’m still mad we don’t find out what happened to Gus. I feel like the no closure ending wasn’t great. I maybe thought we would find out that he had made it out but Fiona had done something to him. Which would have been an awesome ending in my books ahha. But alas, it did not so it was just kind of like the “safe/ good” ending. They are quite a few trigger warnings but I feel like I skim over some of those parts if I don’t care to read them.
I’m not sure if I would recommend this book or to who I would recommend it to.
