This is a very quick read. I read it in two evenings. It kept my attention.
I'm Lutheran and believe in an eternal life beyond what we experience here. In fact, I love reading or hearing about near death experiences and the similarities people experience. However, I didn't think the book was well written and I'm not sure I buy everything he attributes to his little boy saying. Perhaps it is because it doesn't fit my understanding of heaven given my faith upbringing.
Reading it for book club. I think the topic of "whether heaven is real" will generate a ton of discussion.
I loved the Nebraska references because it's my home state. I was really frustrated with how the author and his wife handled their sons illness. They swallowed their own instincts and listened to the drs when they really should have listened to their gut. When a friend tells you to get your kid to a hospital they should have listened!! The little boy did sound adorable. All in all, okay read but wouldn't rate it very high.
