This book is the perfect blend of science fiction, fantasy, and classic gothic horror.
I've seen complaints that it gets a bit slow, but you owe it to yourself to push through that. It's so worth it!
Honestly, I think any perceived slowness in the book comes from the gothic vibe. The pacing reminds me of Rebecca by Dame Daphne du Maurier (a classic gothic novel): slowly building the setting, atmosphere, and tension before going buck wild near the end.
