I read this book a few years ago. It is a powerful story about family and surviving in the United States when your family is ripped away from you. Diane Guerrero was fourteen- years-old when she came home from school to find her parents had been taken into custody by ICE. After they are deported, Diane was left to fend for herself. Her struggles motivated her to fight for immigrant families while pursuing her dreams in the performing arts. I couldn't put this book down.
