Im pissed at myself for this being the first book I've read by Chiara, but so stoked that I get to be here for the next masterpieces. She left zero crumbs with this book.
You can absolutely tell she poured her soul into this book. And lemme tell youuu, it paid off. Ugh, I want to dive back into it.
Winnow and Gideon are absolutely adorable. The both come from darker backgrounds but they don't let it dim the light that they choose to shine onto the world.
Gideon is a grumpy, gruff ball of muscle-y goodness with a dick the size of Texas. When I tell you he turns to literal goo over Winnow, oh my goodness its the best. Nothing better than a man who will go to hell and back to see a woman smile. GIDEON is top tier book boyfriend. The lines upon lines that I have highlighted because of him. (thanks Chiara for giving unrealistic expectations in the best way. ) I have pages of them! Hes the epitome of "if he wanted to he would."
Winnow- oh dear sweet Winnow. Our healing deamon with a heart of pure fucking gold. She is so cute, while a lot naive, coming into a new realm and falling head over heels with this hunk of meat. The internal struggle she goes through trying to reveal herself to him. This whole plot ran much deeper than you think while reading it. The jealousy over Gideons ex? Absolutely HYSTERICAL. omg i was giggling. Towards the end, I was reeling like yessssss the higher spiritual aspects of this story had me, GIDDY!
I should probably discuss some of the plot, but man, the characters stole the show for me. This book is an absolute must read. I immediately bought a signed copy from her shop.
