Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

This book! I pre-judged it and expected it to be superficial and frivolous, but I was wrong. I loved it! It follows the trials and tribulations of Daisy and a rock group during the 1970s in interview format, which gives an authentic, intimate feel.
.
There are the typical temptations of the music scene and the time: alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, and I felt sad at the decisions and lifestyle choices of some of the characters. However, when you peel all of that back, this is about a couple of young, talented people who are broken, lost souls and underneath is a raw vulnerability. So this is really about ambition, expectations, self-validation, love and doing the right thing even when your heart is breaking.
