Allegiant by Veronica Roth

4.0

I just finished Allegiant! I read the entire Divergent trilogy over the past 2 weeks and I really enjoyed it. (For me, it was better overall than the Hunger Games). The author did a really solid job in fleshing out the story which I thought was the main thing that the Hunger Games lacked. Veronica Roth created a believable world with characters that readers can identify with. When I finished Insurgent, I thought that the story was going in a different direction than it did, but I was very satisfied with the ending of this book and how the trilogy wrapped up.

One of my favorite passages in Allegiant was on page 509: "There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater. But sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life."

There were glimpses of hope like this passage mixed in with all chaos, that really grabbed me. This book and the first 2 really made me think about our society and our world. For me the main message in this trilogy is that there is a lot of bad out there, but to always keep any eye out for the light and the good because they are there too.

I highly recommend this trilogy! Happy reading everyone!
