The Five Chinese Brothers by Claire Huchet Bishop

2.0

I read this on a whim because of its mention in Celeste Ng's Little Fires Everywhere, only to see that this could be seen in two ways: either it was a dark but solid read of a fairy tale, a great children's story - or it was completely ill-suited to readers, with inherently racist undertones. While I respect that the viewpoint of the story is (should be, at least) outdated now, overall it was an interesting tale to read.
