Not my favorite Katherine Center book, though not due to poor writing or character development. Those aspects were great. I did not like the MFC at all and the age difference/age at first meeting between the two really icked me out. They did grow on me at the end, but it was hard to ignore that. I did think that

the Jake was going to have some kind of terminal brain cancer, and was relieved that he was actually going blind, not that that isn't a terrible diagnosis in itself
