Manners & Mutiny
by Gail Carriger
A brilliant ending to the series that I didn't remember I still hadn't read, and enjoyed doing so.
I just love how Carriger treats characters: whenever I finish one of her books, I always feel I want to know more about what happened to them. "Manners and Mutiny" is no exception. Even more so, since it's the last book in Carriger's second steampunk series and thus it ties all the loose ends and closes the plot lines. But at the same time it also leaves open avenues for future developments, if the chance arises.
For the old fans, there are also oblique references to the characters in The Parasol Protectorate series (and more than a couple of stellar appearances). And of course, they leave us wondering where the characters of Finishing School were while the Protectorate series took place... and hoping Gail Carriger will tell us some day.
Finally, as someone for whom English is a second language, I need to mention how much I love the way Gail Carriger uses English. I find myself constantly amazed at the beauty and hunour I see on each page.
