THE BAT is the first installment in the Harry Hole series.  I noticed quite a few people weren’t a fan of the first two in this series, but I really liked this book.  It was a good introduction into Harry Hole and how fucked up he is.  It’s nice because I started with the last book in the series, so getting to go back and see young, flawed Harry made me appreciate his character even more.  It is a bit of a slow burn, but it is certainly rewarding. AND THE FUCKING ENDING.  Pardon my language, but it was a major plot twist and I absolutely loved it.  I kind of shrieked out loud and found myself laughing at the perfect justice of it all.  IYKYK 😏 So anyway, this series is highly recommended if you’re looking for some good Scandinavian crime fiction about serial killers.
